Good news

Well the principal meeting went better than expected. It was just him and me and he was very pleasant.

I won’t bore you with the details but there are basically 3 critical things to get Marty to 8th grade. He has to go to after school tutoring as much as possible, he has to pass his classes, and he has to pass the state achievement test next week. I think these are doable.

We did discuss the dilemma of morning pain and stiffness suffered by many kids with arthritis, and agreed there isn’t an easy solution. He said that at least for the rest of this year, if I have to choose between getting a doctors note or missing less time, it would be better to miss less time. If that throws us into truancy issues we will deal with that when it happens. I do happen to know he has some discretion whether to file charges, so even if we start having minor issues with unexcused absences, we should be OK.

Now if I can just get them both healthy…
